Buenos Aires Sees Surge in Traffic Accidents on Holiday

Buenos Aires was filled with traffic accidents this Monday, a public holiday. According to police reports, collisions occurred in the neighborhoods of Parque Patricios, Boedo, Villa Crespo, and Microcentro. One incident took place at the intersection of Vélez Sarsfield and José A. Corteja avenues, where a taxi driver crashed into the wall of an abandoned house. Around 07:00, the driver, the vehicle's sole occupant, lost control and collided with the house's wall, which poses no structural risk. Upon arrival, police confirmed the driver was unharmed. A breathalyzer test yielded a positive result for alcohol. Minutes later, another accident occurred between a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of July 9th and Rivadavia avenues. It was reported that five adult men in the car were unharmed, while the motorcyclist, also an adult, was transported by medical personnel due to injuries. “As a result of the impact, there was a fuel spill on the roadway, which was contained by the City Fire Department,” they stated. In the Boedo neighborhood, at the corner of Juan de Garay and Treinta y Tres Orientales, a vehicle overturned, trapping the driver, who was subsequently rescued by firefighters.
